Many graduates are challenged by the process of their diploma confirmation in foreign states. People migrate for various reasons and start their lives from scratch in a foreign land. When moving to another state, each person needs to confirm his/her professional skills and experience to get a good job. There are two forms of degree confirmation: nostrification and evaluation.
Nostrification refers to the procedure for confirming a qualification level abroad. Evaluation is a process of assessing the quality of knowledge received in accordance with local standards. Every state in the world has own rules for nostrification and evaluation, which are determined by the internal laws.
Today, the most popular countries for emigration are the USA, Germany, Israel, Canada, Great Britain, Finland, and Australia.
Canada and the USA
In these states, it often happens that a qualification received abroad may well be recognized. The main requirement is compliance with the Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Ph.D. degrees. To do make an evaluation of your certificate, you can contact companies with special accreditation. The process will take up to a month and will cost about $100-200.
Migrants to the USA and Canada who have Bachelor’s or Master’s in technical specialties and work experience can find a good job quickly. It will be much more difficult for medical workers and lawyers. They will have to graduate again and begin their journey into the profession from scratches.
Germany
The process of your degree confirmation in Germany is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance. Anerkennungsgesetz law on the recognition of foreign diplomas has been adopted here. Certificates issued by universities of other states do not need confirmation. For such docs only translation is required.
General Provisions for Translation
Legalization of a diploma can be of two types:
- apostilization;
- consular legalization.
If your university hasn’t provided you with an official translation of the certificate – you will need to do it yourself. To translate diplomas and college transcripts, you have to fulfill the following rules:
- The structure of the paper should remain the same.
- The name of the university, personal info, and geographical names should be translated in accordance with the international standards.
- All the seals and signatures should be taken into account.
A new type of diplomas with a credit-module evaluation system already contains the average score and international points. In 90% of cases, the notarization is required, in 50% of cases – just apostille, less often, only translation with the seal of a translation agency.
The translation itself is quite a simple process. It is necessary to bring the original docs to the translation bureau or copies and to get a completed paper soon. Good luck!
